Craft Friday?

I love shopping–any type, whether for me or for a gift (I often tell my boyfriend that having him has given me the opportunity to enter a brand new world of shopping for menswear). Every season, I claim that the upcoming season is my favorite time to shop: spring clothes are my favorite, until fall boots start popping up at Anthropologie. So is it blasphemous to say that I kind of hate Black Friday? I know I can’t be alone here. If you like fighting over toys and gadgets, standing in hours long lines, and using half a gallon of gas driving around parking lots trying to find an empty space, Black Friday is for you; if you’re like me and want to enjoy your shopping experience, you probably stayed home today.

What to do now that we’ve missed the biggest and best (and most violence-inducing) of the post-Thanksgiving deals? I propose we put a little more thought into our gifts than the big-box stores: make items by hand, buy from a local independent business, and track down custom or artisan gifts for the people on your “nice” list. From now until Christmas, I’ll be doing my best to provide you with an adequate selection of project (read: gift) ideas, so make sure to keep following Spin. Sew. Sketch. and finish that shopping/making list! Sorry for the lack of picture previews today–Boyfriend is here, and as some presents are for him, they’re hidden away and unavailable for photo shoots until Sunday. While that means this post is a little boring, it also means you can look forward to a brand new holiday project later this weekend!

Until then, check out this adorable dachshund ornament at Paper Source!
