Farewell to 2011

I’ve never gone out on New Year’s Eve, rung in the New Year with friends or a boyfriend, a goal of mine is to always avoid Time’s Square on New Year’s Eve (should be easy as long as I don’t move to NYC), and for the last few years, instead of watching the ball drop I watched DVDs. All that aside, I like New Year’s Eve. I suspect it’s because I prefer things to be clean and organized, and the idea of a brand new year appeals to me. No matter how good a year I’ve had–and 2011 was certainly a good one–I look forward to the fresh, clean slate the next year offers. Of course, I also enjoy the chance the end of the year offers to reflect on what happened–simply put, the chance to get a little sentimental. So today, I have two posts for you: one celebrating the chance to welcome 2012, and a separate, proper farewell to 2011.

This past year involved a lot of surprises and spontaneity (like a quickly planned trip to Spain, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands) right alongside the expected (completing college). New Year’s Eve seemed like the perfect time to gather a handful of typographic posters that felt particularly relevant to the year I’ve had–it’s certainly set the bar high for 2012!
