Redeem for One Valentine

Valentine’s Day isn’t my number one holiday by a long shot, and sometimes I think that has a lot to do with all the pink hearts and cursive love notes associated with February 14. After all, my favorite non-Christmas (read: non-present getting) holiday is St. Patrick’s Day because, for one glorious day in March, everyone is forced to like green or be punished–makes sense that less favored holidays correspond with less favored colors. I’m not against pink entirely, but I prefer it in small doses and combined with some of the bolder color wheel residents. My nails right now? Almot-neon orange with one bubblegum pink nail on each hand–Valentine appropriate, without being abrasively romantic. For the same reason, I’d love to get my hands on some of these kiss token Valentines by Tea and Ceremony. They’re sold out right now, but cross your fingers for a restock of that tear-able lime-green and hot pink loveliness.

Love Tokens Card

Ever since stumbling upon the Love Tokens Card, I’ve had tickets on my mind, so I was excited to find a slightly less good but still sweet card at Paper Source, featuring similar tickets redeemable for romantic gestures. Being a crafter and a painter, naturally I cut up the card and created a whole new Valentine:

The background image and drink recipe are both from a cocktail book I already had. Throw on a postage stamp-inspired sticker, bits of card held on with washi tape, and some seasonally appropriate Junior Mints and I think I’ve got myself a pretty good Valentine.

Oh, and one more quick word on pink: if you’re gonna use it as more than just an accent, I really think you should go all out. This Paper Ship definitely has the right idea:
