Cream Soda

On past Fridays I’ve often shared a variety of cocktail-themed artwork to celebrate the arrival of the weekend. This week, I’m changing things up a little and providing an actual cocktail suggestion. This drink was inspired by the Italian cream sodas served up at my college’s student run coffee house–one of the best drinks they offer, in my opinion, and probably the only one consistently made well. Since first mixing up a Chambord cream soda last spring with my friend S., I haven’t taken the initiative to gather all the necessary ingredients together–after all, soda water isn’t particularly common in college dorms. However, it seems that recent sunshiny weather has me craving something appropriately fruity and pastel-pink for my weekend beverage. Reference my quick watercolor sketch recipe below for an ingredients list (apologies for the image quality–no scanners here!):

I typically use on old fashioned glass, since that’s the size I own–it works well, but if you want ice you’ll need a taller glass (personally, I just refrigerate everything beforehand). Fill your glass one third of the way up with whole milk (you can use skim, but it won’t taste creamy). Add 2 or 3 oz. Chambord, and fill the rest of the way with soda water.

Have a happy Friday!
