Bits & Pieces: Jessica Hogarth

1. Last Saturday, it was 90 degrees in some parts of the Bay Area–not too shabby for mid-April. With summer weather apparently impatient to make an appearance, Jessica Hogarth‘s seaside inspired illustrations seem just right for anyone yearning for a day at the beach. Her vibrant yellow sand, red-trimmed row boats, and charming cottages look like a near perfect recipe for a summer trip. Throw in a jaunt to the Parisian themed prints and notecards she also offers and your vacation plans are complete. Find notecards and prints here, there, or over there.

2. Lest you think California is entirely blessed with lovely April weather, I’ll provide full disclosure: it’s grey and wet outside as I write this post. With warm weather behind and ahead of me though, I’m not complaining.

3. Is it silly to keep lusting after these cameras even after I realized that I would almost certainly end up scanning all the photos I take right back into the digital world? Hmmm…I still want one anyway.

4. I am a reluctant lover of needlepoint–the ultra-traditional, ultra-feminine craft just doesn’t fit my personality in any way, shape, or farm. But it’s just so fun, not to mention easy and quite satisfying. Luckily, there seems to be a handful of folks out there who are not only unembarrassed by their fondness for needlecraft, they’re making it far cooler than I ever imagined. This needlepoint clutch by Purl Bee has been on my to-do list for a while, and I see a DIY version of these needlepoint cuffs in my future….
